How to Help Children Celebrate Independence Day

In our home, we love Independence Day (the 4th of July). My son is finally at the age where he can understand why we celebrate Independence Day. Today, I tried to explain it to him and he looked at me like I was either crazy, or extremely boring. I decided I must be doing something wrong, so I turned to the internet for ideas on how to explain the holiday to my son. I looked through several sites before I found this one.

Kaboose – Why we Celebrate the 4th of July

I really like the way they explain things. They are accurate, but still understandable for a child. I was also impressed by their overall 4th of July page. Follow the links to find great crafts, recipes, and 4th of July activities.  My favorite recipe is the 4th of July Jigglers. They are so cute and easy enough for kids to make.

These 4th of July Jigglers are great! We made them for a trial run before the 4th of July and they turned out great.
